Egyptian companies sign cooperation agreements with Barbados and the Caribbean to establish fish farms
A number of Egyptian companies signed cooperation agreements between Egypt and a number of countries in the Caribbean, where the Evergreen Company signed a memorandum of understanding with the Prime Minister of Barbados and the Minister of Agriculture of Ghana, as was signed with the State of Saint Kitts by its Prime Minister and all these islands are from the Caribbean countries.
Talks for Egyptian companies were held with officials in the Caribbean, in the presence of the Egyptian Ambassador to Cuba and the Caribbean Maher El-Adawy, on the sidelines of the Afro-Caribbean Investment and Trade Forum 2022, which was held in Barbados.
Dr. Adel Al-Maslamani, head of Evergreen Company, said that there are good opportunities for investment in the Caribbean, pointing out that the cooperation aims to establish integrated fish farms on the three islands, where each island is a country. For Nile tilapia fish and ponds for tilapia fish breeding, where an integrated system will be made of design, construction, training, management, operation and marketing process.
The project will be the largest in the Caribbean and eastern Americas.
The signing of the agreements was attended by Dr. Trans Drew, Prime Minister of Saint Kitts, and Andre Weir, Minister of Agriculture of Barbados.

Mohamed Fouad, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hexel Group for Contracting and Supplies, one of the investors participating in the African Caribbean Investment Forum, said that the Caribbean region enjoys many investment opportunities and Egyptian markets can be opened for various products in the Caribbean region, pointing out that discussions and joint meetings were held with companies in Barbados, and the companies expressed their desire In cooperation with Egyptian companies, especially as they enjoy quality products and lower prices compared to what is imported from countries in America and Europe.
He added that the main problem is the lack of direct air links between Egypt and the Caribbean.
El Sewedy Electric Cables Company also held talks with Caribbean countries to transfer the Egyptian expertise to the region, and officials in Barbados expressed their desire to establish Egyptian factories in the Caribbean countries.
During the forum, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the African Business Council and the private sector in the Caribbean, as well as the establishment of an African-Caribbean Business Council with the aim of promoting investment in the Caribbean region and transferring technology. And the African, especially in the field of blue economy and fish farms, and Egypt has many companies that have experience in this field and the possibility of transferring those experiences to the Caribbean.
