Distribution: It is found in the Northwest Pacific Ocean from Japan, Korea, and Taiwan to the South and East Seas of China.
Characteristics: Japanese sumo wrestlers prefer to eat a hot bowl of it. The dragon grouper fish produced by Taiwan was called the Petroleum Grouper and was transferred with this name to Japan. It is considered one of the fish with a high nutritional value in Japan and Korea. In Hong Kong, it is called the Petroleum Grouper, while in China it is called the Gradient Shadow Grouper, and its meat is rich in fat. The body of young oil grouper fish contains 6 brown stripes, and the colors of these stripes change after they reach maturity. The Petroleum Grouper fish is characterized by its tolerance of cold, temperatures reach less than 10 degrees Celsius, and thus can be farmed in the northern part of Taiwan, and after a year, it does not tolerate high temperatures, when the temperature exceeds 29 degrees Celsius refrain from food, But after two years, it reaches the right temperature of 32 degrees Celsius, so it can open a new sales market for its culture in Taiwan.
